Unable to sync transactions with my Absa Business Account. I keep getting error 101 when I try

We understand how important it is to keep your bank transactions synced with QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let us help you identify what's causing error 101 and share some solutions to assist you, Vivid.

Error 101 indicates an issue connecting to your bank, often because the bank account is inactive (no transactions in 12+ months), you're trying to add an account for which you haven't accepted new terms and conditions, or there's a temporary problem with the bank's server.

Here’s how you can fix error 101:

  • Log in to your bank's website: Use a new tab or browser to check if you can access your account without errors.
  • Verify account activity: Ensure your account is active, with a balance or transactions within the past 12 months. If not, we recommend contacting your financial institution directly.
  • Address missed prompts: Check your bank's website for any confirmation requests. Complete them, then refresh your QuickBooks account.

Also, we highly suggest contacting your bank, as they sometimes undergo updates or maintenance that can affect transaction syncing.

If it is confirmed that there are no ongoing updates on the bank's end and the issue persists, we recommend contacting our phone support team. They have the necessary tools to look up your account and can provide further resolution to help you connect your bank in QBO.

To contact our phone support, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Help icon.
  2. Choose the Search tab.
  3. Click the Contact Us button and enter your concern.
  4. Select Continue.

In the meantime, you can manually upload your transactions to maintain accurate and up-to-date records. Once imported, it is important to categorise and match the transactions to prevent duplicates and ensure proper assignment.
