Buy nowI am using QB Enterprise for Desktop, running on the server and users opening the data file from a shared network drive in multi-user mode. I need to write a series of reports outside of Quickbooks, using an advanced reporting tool like Crystal Reports, powerBI, etc... Right now I'm using Crystal. I downloaded QODBC and installed and the data connection works just fine. But to get it to work I had to approve my ODBC connection as an approved integrated application, and that approval times out in 2 weeks.
A little research seems to suggest that you can't extend the 2 week approval, and that's a safety feature. Which means I will have to go through that approval process every 2 weeks to keep my reports working.
What I'm wondering is... is there a better / more reliable / less maintenance connection to my data file for this kind of reporting? Or am I stuck having to go through the approval process every 14 days? I'm using a tool similar to Crystal Server that let's users self-service and get their own reports, but obviously this setup is going to break every 2 weeks until I approve it again. Just wondering how everyone else gets this done. Thanks!

Within QuickBooks, you can create reports. They can also be customized in your books. If you'd like to, any of your reports can be exported and customized further outside of QuickBooks.
In regard to an advanced reporting tool for writing reports, I'd recommend checking our QuickBooks Desktop Marketplace for apps which may be able to help you achieve what you're looking to accomplish.
I've also included a detailed resource about working with reports which may come in handy moving forward: Reports available in QuickBooks

You have QB Desktop 2024, correct? How about using a BI app to sync with QB Desktop?
