I have an iMac running Big Sur and need to upgrade. Running QB desktop 2021 standalone Mac R15.

I also have a MacBook air and just upgraded it to Sequoia 15.6.

Can I install the QB R15 dmg file on the MB Air and open it just for a test run or will it de-register on the iMac? Is the license for only one computer? If the test run is successful I will continue to only use it on the iMac after its upgrade.

Been a loyal QB customer for 30 years and don't need these problems in my old age.

You can install the trial version of QB Desktop 2021 to make sure it runs on your Macbook Air without any issues.

Yes, you can install QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021 R15 on your MacBook Air for a test run, @Rookie24.

To begin with, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac typically allows installation on up to two computers, provided both are used by the same individual and not simultaneously. This means you can install the R15 version on your MacBook Air running macOS Sequoia 15.6 without deactivating or registering the copy on your iMac.

However, please note that QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021 is a discontinued version, and QuickBooks has not released updates for compatibility with macOS Sequoia 15.6. With this, you may encounter compatibility issues. For this reason, you can either use a newer version of QuickBooks for Mac to match the compatibility or, before upgrading your iMac, it's wise to treat your MacBook Air test run as a dry run. If the test run is successful, you can upgrade your iMac and continue using QuickBooks there as your primary system.

You've been a loyal customer for 30 years and you deserve a smooth experience. If you need help preparing for your iMac upgrade or want to explore backup options, we're here to help.

I am on 15.5 Sequoia and QB is running fine. I am having issues importing .qbo files, but I don't think that's a compatibility problem, I think I updated my quickbooks and they are freezing us out from using the old manual import. (It is still working on some of my accounts, but any account that had a shift in account numbers is not functioning.)

@anmlkat

You can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2024 to run the bank feed feature as a workaround.
