Copying QBO info between companies led to 100+ hours of tech support and no results yet

Hey all. Can’t believe I ended up here looking for help or suggestions. The short is we had 2 QBO companies, which were the same physical company with a single EIN. This was because payroll was brought online first. Currently, under gear>tools>back up company>copy there is a copy running since 5/27, 9 full days, 0% progress and no errors. We have gotten into a chat or phone support numerous times per day for the past 2 weeks. Totaling over 100 hours at this point. We keep being given INV (investigation) numbers about this from the back end, then that number is closed the next day. Below will be the original message to QB help that led us to upgrading both companies to the max, so we had access to all the backup and copy and restore features. Everything was going smooth and we were assured what we wanted to do was normal and would not be an issue. If anyone has experience, help, suggestions, willing to listen to just about anything at this point. Thanks in advance.

Over the past 2 years we have brought our payroll, and then bookkeeping from Quickbooks desktop to online. through pressure to convert from intuit. We were 20+ year QB desktop users, and the transition has been long and painful. now that we have everything online, we have two QuickBooks online companies, one for payroll and one for all other financial bookkeeping of the business.  We would like to see how we could merge these companies into one QuickBooks Online account such that when we process payroll all of the entries integrate and flow into our books and records of the company like when we had QuickBooks Desktop and did all bookkeeping in one company.  The process of making journal entries for payroll us cumbersome and makes reconciliation very difficult.  In short, we want to be able to do the same things I did in QuickBooks Desktop in the past in one QuickBooks Online.  I have spoken with my accountant and he has many clients that use QuickBooks Online and they have one account where they do payroll, banking, A/P and A/R.   How can this be done with the situation I have here? Thank you.

that is what we needed to accomplish. ensure time and again this is not an issue. here we are dead in the water for a month.

You should consider to purchase a 3rd party service to merge your data.

I don't understand why this is such a difficult thing for QBO to do.  Then again it seems any change which involves a TIN or EIN is cumbersome if any transactions have been processed electronically - which nowadays is most transactions.  I'd keep trying to go "up the ladder".  If your accountant is a ProAdvisor they can get a higher-level support which is often a big help.

Good Luck!
