Just started with QB for VAT, HMRC MTD all set up, QB keeps flagging error saying it can not connect with HMRC, try again in 72hrs but its been 5 days, any advice?

Got QB to do my own VAT, accountant done them up to last submission. QB saying can not connect to HMRC but has also come up with nil returns for earlier this year? dont need to do anything with these as already submitted but there is an error showing, could this be why/, the date in VAT settings keep defaulting t a date last year when we presume this needs to be date of registration which is 1973. No idea where we are going wrong?

Your credentials used to connect QuickBooks Online (QBO) to HMRC for Making Tax Digital (MTD) may have expired or become unauthorised. This typically occurs when the link between QuickBooks and HMRC is no longer active. Connections automatically expire every 18 months for security purposes.

 

To reauthorise your MTD connection, please follow these steps:

 

  1. Click this link to complete the steps in the product.
  2. Go to Edit VAT/ITSA Settings.
  3. Turn off MTD.
  4. Reconnect QuickBooks to HMRC using your valid MTD credentials.
