I’ve been using Commonwealth Bank linked to my account, but recently, every time I try to update the bank transactions, it asks me to re-authenticate the bank connection.

It wasn’t like this before – everything was working fine until recently.

Re-authentication often happens when a bank updates its security protocols or compliance measures to protect your financial information.

 

Since you're experiencing this just recently, it seems that the Commonwealth Bank may have implemented changes that require you to verify your identity more frequently. Financial institutions update their security protocols to comply with regulations or improve protection against unauthorized access.

 

To address this, you'll want to reach out to your bank to confirm if new security measures or system updates are implemented and ask them if there's something that they can do about the verification process. 

 

If it's not related to your bank's protocols, make sure that your credentials are updated and consistent across platforms. If you've recently made changes to your login details, you need to update it in QuickBooks Online. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Transactions menu, then select Bank transactions.
  2. Click the tile for the bank account and select the pencil icon.
  3. Select Edit sign-in info/ Edit account sign in.
  4. Update your info as needed.

 

After that, click the Update button from the bank transactions page to manually refresh the connection and pull in new transactions. See the screenshot below for your visual reference.

 

 

If re-authentication continues to happen even after verifying everything's in order, you might consider uploading bank transactions manually to to keep your records up to date.
