0 2 2004

Why support small businesses?

Supporting local small businesses has a lot of benefits for both you and your community. It helps strengthen your local economy, create more jobs, reduce environmental impact, lower your taxes, and even improve your family’s health! This upcoming #SmallBusinessSaturday is on November, 26th, so mark your calendar and make sure to head over to your favorite small shops on this day or even better, throughout this whole month.

5 Ways to Support Small Businesses on Small Business Saturday:

1. Buy Gift Cards

Buying gift cards from small businesses as gifts for the upcoming holiday season is a great way to get some of those family gifts out of the way while also showing your support. It is quick, easy, and efficient! And most of the time, people will enjoy a gift card to a local shop 100 times more than your typical chain one. It makes the gift even more special.

2. Shop at Local Businesses

This upcoming holiday season, try swapping chain stores for local shops for your gifts. Are your neighbors coffee fanatics? If so, then maybe get them some ground coffee or a cute coffee mug form your favorite local coffee shop! People will appreciate the special and unique touch to their gift and you will also be helping make more of an impact towards our economy this holiday season.

3. Leave a positive review

Leaving a positive review for a few of your favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants, small boutiques, or shops is a free, simple, and super easy way to make a huge difference for a Small Business in your community. You can leave these on their Yelp, Facebook, or any other forum pages where people may go to leave suggestions!

4. Post positively about other businesses on your social media

Another great to support small businesses, is to share a product/service that you recently bought from them and tag them in a social media post or story! It can also be a simple shoutout to them for how much you love their mission or products. It is also free and the owners would deeply appreciate this gesture.

5. Swap Black Friday for Small Business Saturday

We all know Black Friday can be a super enticing endeavor with all those flashing sales coming right at us as the day approaches. But, it is important to remember that every dollar that is spent in these chain stores, is a dollar that isn’t being spent at a small business that has more of an impact in feeding our local economy. This is a challenge for you this Black Friday to swap out the big stores, and try spending your money where it matters most.

Taking part in Small Business Saturday is as simple as that! Challenge yourself to be a part of the change this holiday season.
